Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a condition that represents a long-term challenge for millions of children. Children with this disorder often show difficulties paying attention, concentrating, following instructions, and regulating impulsive and hyperactive behaviors. They may also experience low self-esteem, problematic relationships, and poor academic performance. Although these challenges can be frustrating for both children and their families, there are strategies that help manage symptoms and improve children’s well-being and the family environment.
How can structured routines help a child with ADHD?
Structured routines can be an effective tool to support children with ADHD at home. Neuropediatrician Dr. Bárbara Blanco Martínez provides several recommendations to support the daily lives of children with attention deficit. These routines create a supportive environment that strengthens and promotes the development of children with ADHD. A structured routine helps reduce impulsivity and provides clarity about what to expect throughout the day. Children with ADHD benefit greatly from structure and predictability, which helps prevent frustration and fatigue.
